About Us

Last fall many area residents were devastated when they learned that the Ippolito family, who owned and operated the popular River Restaurant in Derby  for 77 Years announced they were retiring and selling there business. Smart businessmen , Rick Lucarelli came to the rescue and purchased the River Restaurant in October 2008. Rick knew this was a great opportunity spending six weeks remodeling and expanding this well known landmark. It was a quick and seamless transition from one owner to another. Rick owns several Cold Stone Creameries&Blimpies. . The restaurant got a complete makeover, with new kitchen equipment, paint, artwork, tables, and booths. They have also expanded the space into a adjoining room adding a additional 800 square feet that can accommodate private parties for up to 60 people. A partition was removed in the main dining room so diners can now see in to the newly revamped kitchen area. I am happy to report that the new owners have remolded the River Restaurant after these well established businesses and are thrilled about the new location in Derby. The menu focuses on fresh ingredients featuring Italian classics like lasagna, gnocchi, ravioli and specialty pizzas. New dishes have been added such as Angus beef sirloin prepared with asparagus & egg and Steak Giovanni. The River Restaurant  bakes it's own Italian bread daily. As of may 5th the River Restaurant has now become Lucarelli's
